Los Angeles  (March 16, 2011)  – The Fall 2011 Los Angeles Fashion Market (LA Fashion Market) at the California Market Center (CMC) took place Monday, March 14, 2011 – Thursday, March 17, 2011 welcoming thousands of retailers from across the globe to SELECT Tradeshow, FOCUS Apparel & Accessories Show, TRANSIT LA Shoe Show and hundreds of permanent showrooms.  Runway shows, seminars and lounges with hospitality perks were jam packed over the bustling four-day Market.

“Monday was fabulous for us,” said Gwen Burnett, VP of Sales for Seduce, Katherine and Bluejuice.  “Our buyers were looking for new, international product and our Australian lines fit perfectly in this niche. So far, we’ve met with Modcloth, Lord & Taylor, Dillards and several specialty boutiques.”

Retailers shopping the Market included Revolve, Bloomingdales, Macys, Nordstrom, Kitson, Wendy Foster,, Metro Park, Modcloth, Nasty Gal, Ambiance, Cusp, H. Lorenzo, Johns (Tokyo), Kai Lani (Tokyo), Kenex (Sapporo-Shi), Libertine (Vancouver), Moule (Vancouver), The Ritz Carlton Marina Del Rey, Philippe Derey, Tootsies, Piperlime, Betsy & Tracy, Bettina Duncan at Fred Segal, Boulmiche, Faze Co Ltd (Tokyo), Forever 21, Firefly, Harari, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, JMR Chalk Garden, Janor Imports (Montreal), JW Marriot Desert, Ketchum Dry Goods, KSL Resorts, La Petite Tresor, M. Frederic & Co, Marshall Retail Group, Polkadots & Moonbeams, Sanei Intl (Tokyo), The Denim Bar, Un Deux Trois, Zappos and many more.    

A constant flow of retailers were seen walking SELECT Tradeshow, which ran Monday, March 14, 2011 through Wednesday, March 16, 2011 in the Fashion Theater and showcased a sold out floor of upmarket contemporary brands.  Exhibitors included Twinkle by Wenlan, Whitley Kros, Ai for Ai, Sam Edelman, Azaara, Boutique 9, Gorjana, Linea Pelle, Magaschoni Apparel, Sophie Monet Jewelry, VOOM by Joy Han and more.  Show sponsors included Urth Caffé Downtown, who provided complimentary coffee, mini cakes and pastries from 9:00am-11:00am Monday and Tuesday, and Vita Coco Drinks which were served daily throughout the Show floor.

 “SELECT was great for us, this was a busier Show for us then January,” said Raina Paquillo of SELECT brand Inge Christopner. “This is a friendly and fun Show. I always look forward to exhibiting alongside good companies.”

Michelle Waller of Royal Plush added, “We’ve been very busy, seeing many of my existing accounts consistently each day.  I opened some new accounts in Australia, Colorado and Arizona. This is a strong show for us, I plan on showing again here in June.”

Several free retailer seminars were added to our busy Market schedule including “Using Social Media to Connect with New Customers,” presented by Mercedes Gonzalez of Global Purchasing Companies, Monday, March 14 at 12:00pm and a Fall 2011 trend overview led by Sally Lohan, Head of Content, Americas for WGSN, which took place Tuesday at 12:00pm in the Penthouse (13th floor). 

Other popular events for retailers included two 12:00pm  runway shows Tuesday and Wednesday, March 15 and 16 in the Penthouse (13th floor).   Tuesday’s Contemporary Collections Runway Show was filled with visiting retailers and fashion press, featuring contemporary brands from the CMC including Miilla, Nataya, Voom by Joy Han, Iron Fist and Musani Couture.  Wednesday’s F2 Runway Show consisted of emerging brands and FOCUS exhibitors such as Camelia Skikos, Front Street, Rock Chiq and Bijou Van Ness.  Runway Show sponsors included Frey Wine, All About Face Makeup and Chinese Laundry Shoes.

“The runway shows brought up a lot of good retailers,” said Lauren Bell, of Esque Style Showroom who exhibited at FOCUS. “I met with Fred Segal Hats on Tuesday and opened a few new accounts just after the runway show including Wink in Nebraska and Active Body from Phoenix.”

FOCUS Apparel & Accessories Show ran Tuesday - Thursday in the Penthouse (13th floor) and featured over 30 emerging contemporary lines such as Modesce, Lani Clothing, Mystree, Kathleen van der Spek, Akela Key, Fred Sabatier, MuDan, NeuNel, Quiet Clothing, Mon Bijou and many more.  Bloggers from Two Point Oh LA! also set up a special bloggers lounge presenting Fall 11 trend installations, live blogging, beauty perks from POP Beauty and I.C.O.N., snacks by POP Chips and daily afternoon happy hours sponsored by Anheuser Busch.

The B-Side of the Penthouse (13th floor) hosted TRANSIT LA Shoe Show,  showcasing hundreds of  lines including Jeffrey Campbell, DV by Dolce Vita, L.A.M.B., Steve Madden, Seychelles, Donald J Pliner, Matiko, Report Signature, Kelsi Dagger, Frye Boot Company, Gee Wawa, Messeca, A.B.S. by Allen Schwartz, Timberland Womens, Kork-Ease and Vintage Shoe Company to name a few. 

Sharon Blackburn of Jeffrey Campbell was pleased with the amount of business she wrote, “TRANSIT was great for us. All of our West Coast accounts came to see us here, including stores from California, New Mexico and Texas.  We will be back next Show.”

Audrey Okulick, CMC Spokesperson added, “March is known to be one of our busier Markets, and we were pleased to see a strong retailer turnout.  Spreading our temporary shows over a 4 day period helped bring in a steady stream of attendees each day, with SELECT starting on Monday and FOCUS and TRANSIT starting on Tuesday.”

The Fall II/ Holiday 2011 LA Fashion Market will take place June 13-16, 2011 with showrooms open by appointment only Sunday June 12.
