BRISK, STEADY TRAFFIC REPORTED THROUGHOUT SPRING 12 LA FASHION MARKET

Los Angeles (October 19, 2011) - The Spring 2012 Los Angeles Fashion Market took place October 17-20, 2011 at the California Market Center(CMC) with an abundance of new resources and new business. Permanent showrooms reported seeing brisk, steady traffic throughout the Market and opening numerous new accounts. Bright outlooks and new business were also predominant among SELECT Contemporary Tradeshow, TRANSIT Shoe Show, and FOCUS Apparel & Accessories Tradeshow.  The Market featured thousands of resources and an assortment of special buyer events, including a visual merchandising seminar, Opening Night Reception, AREA 4 Launch Party, F2 Runway Show, as well as many complimentary beauty amenities and hospitality features.

“Market has been excellent. We have seen many buyers each day, including locals and Canadians” said Liza Stewart of the Liza Stewart Inc., suite B535 on our Contemporary floor. “We have remained extremely busy throughout the Market.”

John Meyer, owner of Matty M and Willow & Clay in suite B591, also reported a great Market, saying: “The Show has been really good. We have seen a lot of enthusiasm and excitement from buyers this season.”

Key stores seen this Market included Lord & Taylor, LF Stores, Kitson, Nordstrom, Fred Segal, M Fredric, Madison, The Blue Jeans Bar, Roxy, Zappos.com, Ideeli, Burlington Coat Factory, Bebe, Bella James, Nasty Gal, Lola Rogue, The Red Balloon, Hyatt Regency, MGM Grand, C’est la Vie, Lesters, Modcloth, A Pea In The Pod, House of Denim, Moonbeams, Ma Belle, Pete’s Sportswear, Lulu’s and Camellia Boutique, to name a few.

Young Contemporary brand Blue Bird debuted its new showroom at the CMC this Market, reporting: “Our debut at this Market has been fantastic. We have met many new accounts, and being in the California Market Center is helping us solidify these new relationships. Fifty percent of the customers we have seen this week have been new to us,” said Sarah Kang of Blue Bird Showroom, suite B585.

The Los Angeles Kids Market, featured on the CMC’s Kids On 6 floor, was abuzz with enthusiastic buyers and press. “I love the resources and flow of the Kids floor,” said DeBalino, fashion blogger and baby stylist of www.babystylista.com. “The energy was great and this was a perfect Market.”

Sold out of exhibit space this season, SELECT Contemporary Tradeshow was featured in the CMC's Fashion Theater, Main Lobby, Monday-Wednesday, and presented many new exhibitors, as well as returning lines, including Sam Edelman, ADAM by Adam Lippes, Deepa Gurnani, Mellie J Showroom, Merci Marie, Tina Huang, Royal Plush, Magaschoni, and many more.

“We have done exceptionally well this show, said returning exhibitor Lisa Mitchell of Sam Edelman. “Participating in SELECT gives us the opportunity to meet and interact with West Coast stores.”

Merci Borden of Merci Marie added: “We have had a lot of foot traffic this Show, which is great because we want to build our brand identity here on the West Coast. We participate in shows all over the country and SELECT is always a great show for us.”

Many new SELECT exhibitors are seeing the show as an opportunity to develop relationships with West Coast buyers. “We have a strong East Coast presence, and want to strengthen our national network,” said Joel Quiles of ADAM by Adam Lippes. “We felt it only natural to spearhead new West Coast relationships by showing our collection here at SELECT, which has proven to be beneficial by all the foot traffic and buzz we have received being here.”

Melanie Flood of Mellie J Showroom, showed new European lines this season at SELECT, and was overjoyed with the turn out. “The traffic and new connections we are making here have been fantastic” she said. “We have had a lot of new buyers come through who have been excited about the new lines we are introducing to the U.S.”

FOCUS Apparel & Accessories Show was presented in the Penthouse, 13th floor, Monday-Wednesday.  The showcase included notable emerging brands Wanderlust, Dssence, Noa Ecco, Costella Handbags, Copenhagen Luxe, Bleu Temple, and others in a newly located showcase in the midst of TRANSIT the LA Shoe Show.  Key brands at TRANSIT included Jeffrey Campbell, Vince Camuto, Report Signature, Calvin Klein, Steve Madden, Seychelles, Rocket Dog, Lovely People, Kelsi Dagger, and hundreds more.

“We have participated in this show from the beginning, and will definitely be coming back season after season in the future,” said Sharon Blackburn of Jeffrey Campbell Shoes. “Buyers seek us out at TRANSIT, and our booth is three times the size we normally are this Show, which is exciting.”

Heather Shay of The Frye Company remarked "We are always busy every TRANSIT. We have definitely seen an increase in traffic from last show. We have been writing multiple new store accounts daily. This show is always beneficial to us. This is also a great place to get attention for our brand, with the high volumes of traffic coming through.”

This Market’s series of special events began with the F2 Runway Show, including a luncheon for buyers and press during opening day. Following that, Mercedes Gonzalez of Global Purchasing Companies presented the seminar “The Silent Salesperson - Visual Merchandising.”  Buyers and press were also treated to several parties including an Opening Night Reception and AREA 4 Launch party, in addition to complimentary hair cuts, blow-outs, manicures, makeovers, snacks, beverages, and more.

Dates for the Summer 12 LA Fashion Market are Monday - Thursday January 16-19, 2012. Some showrooms will be open Sunday, January 15,2012 for preview.
