fashion industry legacy

California Market Center (CMC) has a rich history in the global Fashion Industry and has been renowned as the heartbeat of the LA Fashion District for more than 60 years.

Built in 1963 by the Morse family, the original California Mart was the first Wholesale Fashion marketplace west of the Mississippi, and has continued to serve as the essential destination for the Fashion and Textile Trade on the West Coast ever since.

In 2017, the iconic CMC property was acquired by Brookfield Properties Operated by CBRE and entered an exciting redevelopment of its campus. Relaunched in December 2021, the newly transformed CMC is an architecturally award-winning, mixed-use creative complex.

Today, Buildings A & B are reserved for private Creative Offices and Studios for renowned fashion and entertainment corporations such as Adidas, AXS, and others, while Building C is home to Showrooms and Events serving the Fashion and Textile industries.

As a prominent Los Angeles Events venue, CMC is host to key fashion industry Markets and Tradeshows, as well as curated Expos, Market Pop-Ups, Sample Sales, Shopping, and Special Events that are open to the general public.
